9365 #68x2, #73, tiny faults from close edge placement, on VF FLS to Spain (minor central file fold), NEW ORLEANS AUG 16 postmark and quartered cork killers, blue New Orleans merchant AUG 15 1866 hand stamp, red NEW PAID YORK AUG 22 18 cent credit exchange office postmark (Hubbard & Winter #211).  Cover sent via closed mail on Cunard steamer "Java", departing 22 AUG 66, arriving in Queenstown 31 AUG 66.  Cover forwarded to France (red Calais 2 SEPT 66 receiver and boxed PD) and from there to Igualada, Spain where it received a red "4R" hand stamp indicating postage due.  Very attractive usage, ex Dr. Burrows. $300
8978 #68, fine, double struck by extremely scarce magenta outline star killer with matching HARTFORD CT OCT 29 (1864) postmark, sent to Montreal, CN (NOV 2 receiver on back). VF cover slightly reduced along top. Ex-Dewey. SOLD

8855 #163, #161, #157 (stamps with small faults), red Boston DEC 8 [1875] exchange office postmark, paying very scarce, short lived 27˘ British mail rate via Southampton (effective 7/75-8/76, manuscript 'via "Liverpool"') to Port Elizabeth, Cape of Good Hope.  Cover front bears red London receiver, red crayon "110" credit (22˘ credit in centimes per GPU/UPU regulations), and JA 21 76 CAPETOWN CAPE COLONY receiver, and JA 24 76 Port Elizabeth receiver on back.  Cover has mild horizontal bend through address and small edge tear at top, but is still VF intact and attractive. Letter sheet traveled from N.O. to New York via coastal steamer, departing for France May 16 (red NEW PAID YORK MAY 16 12 exchange office credit marking) via British packet Scotia (Cunard Line), arriving Queenstown May 25.  VF red 27 MAI 66 French receiver (ET. UNIS SERV. BRIT. CALAIS) on front and 2 VF black railway transit receivers on back.  2022 PFC (only a single other domestic use cover certified by the PF).  A gem fancy cancel cover. SOLD

8295 #161, #179, fine sound copies, tied by 2 VF-XF strikes of large, tall "76" U.S. centennial patriotic killer (Cole YD-58) with HOLLIDAYSBURGH, PA APR 20 (1876) postmark, on VF intact registered cover to Switzerland. Cover also bears a red NEW YORK REGISTERED APR 25 postmark and boxed CHARGEE Swiss registry mark on front and 4 different different Swiss receivers on reverse.  This cover should appeal to multiple collectors of fancy cancels, foreign destinations, registered mail, as well as collectors of the 5˘ Taylor and 10˘ Hamilton Banknote issues.  A great exhibit item. 7940 #135 grill, #159, rounded corner, tied by target killers, RESERVE, N.Y., MAY 11 postmark, VF red NEW YORK PAID ALL VIA HAMBURG, MAY 13 exchange office mark (Winter 255a, scarce) on VF intact cover and 8˘ rate to Switzerland via Hamburg, XF BASEL 5 27 75 receiver on back.  Cover carried by Hapag Line Cimbria from New York on May 13 to Hamburg arriving May 26. $250
7755 #161, fine, sound, tied by an XF strike of fancy geometric killer (very similar to Whitfield 4228, unattributed, 1861 issues), SYRACUSE, NY, AUG 24 (1874) postmark, red New York PAID exchange office postmark, and blue 7 SEPT 74 HAVRE French receiver on intact cover paying American Packet Direct rate to France.  The letter was sent to forwarding agent Munroe & Co., Paris, and apparently forwarded to Russia.  The cover is docketed "Rec'd Sept. 12 1874, St. Petersburg" at left.  Attractive and scarce usage. $60
7733 #159, fine, #157x2, VF sound, paying the NGU direct rate to Constantinople, Turkey on VF intact cover (back flap torn and resealed) postmarked Middleborough, MA, APR 21 (ca. 1874), part of the Washburne correspondence. Cover bears a red NEW YORK PAID ALL, AUG 22 exchange office postmark, New York red crayon "4" for 4˘ credit to Germany and German red crayon “Wf 2" (weiterfranco, "foreign postage") corrected to "1˝” (1˝ sgr. for postage beyond German frontier), and German Post (9.10) arrival back stamp.  A scarce destination and rate and a very attractive cover. 7651 #205, F-VF, sound, tied by an XF-superb SOTN strike of negative letter K within triangle within circular grid fancy killer, JACKSONVILLE, IL, MAY 19 postmark on intact cover to Sweden, docketed "Rec'd June 3rd 84".  This killer is unlisted in major references, but there are several other letter K killers known from Jacksonville, all most likely attributable to Charles Kent, postal clerk.  I have handled one other cover from this same correspondence bearing this particular K killer postmarked May 23.  An obviously rare fancy cancel.  Cover with some toning along right cover edge $125
