1869 Issues, Stamps (#1)

Item # Description Price Picture
5496 #112, fine, small faults, bearing a superb SOTN strike of an unlisted fancy spiral killer. Fancy killers such as this are very scarce on 1¢ value of the 1869 series. Quite eye-catching. $125
4448 #112, fair-fine, canceled by an XF strike of small negative square and compass in circle killer, an unlisted Masonic in S-E. Killers this nice, especially a Masonic fancy, are rare on this issue. Minor small corner bend at lower left.  (HCS) $250
4445 #112, fine, canceled by a fine SOTN strike of numeral 10 in circle obsolete rate marking. The 10 has grid cuts, similar to Skinner-Eno NS-J 23 from Manchester, OH, but the cuts run from UL to LR on this stamp, opposite from NS-J 23.  Stamp has small corner creases at upper right.  A very scarce and unusual killer for this stamp and issue.  (HCS) $85
5355 #113, fine and fresh, canceled by a VF-XF strike of beautiful blue geometric killer of Philadelphia. Besides a few creased perfs, stamp is sound. SOLD
5392 #114, fine, canceled by VF SOTN strike of blue letter W killer, origin unknown. Rightmost edge of blue postmark just shows in perf tips at stamp bottom verifying that this is letter W, not letter M. SOLD
5391 #114, fine, canceled by an XF strike of small shamrock killer, possibly Skinner-Eno PP-C22. Stamp has tiny corner perf flaw at upper left but is otherwise entirely sound. Scarce. $75
5390 #114, fine, sound, canceled by an XF-superb SOTN of a geometric killer (Skinner-Eno SD-G 130). Quite eye catching. $35
5477 #114, average, faults, canceled by a VF strike of very scarce Morristown, NJ double heart pierced by arrow killer (Skinner-Eno PH-H 20). $15
5272 #114, fine, faults and foxing at edge, canceled by a superb SOTN strike of negative JMC multi-letter killer.  Unlisted in major references and source unknown, I am nevertheless convinced that it is genuine. Breathtaking killer.

SOLD

5263 #114, F+, canceled by a superb SOTN strike of an eight segment blue fancy geometric killer, 3mm tear at left. Pretty stamp. $30
5194 #114, fine, canceled by a superb SOTN strike of scarce negative US patriotic fancy killer (Skinner-Eno PT-US 28). Stamp has perf faults, especially along bottom edge of this bottom margin stamp (back scan). A GEM fancy cancel.

SOLD

5123 #114, fine, perf faults at top, bottom margin copy with attached plate #11 selvage, canceled by a VF+ strike of 5-point star fancy killer. A wonderful and exceptionally scarce combination of attractive features.

SOLD

4768 #114, fine sound pair, interior perfs incompletely punched, canceled by a partial ST. LOUIS, MO postmark duplexed to an unusual curved "keystone" killer. Also possibly a set of initials; the inner part appears like a letter "R". SOLD
4623 #114, fine, tiny faults, canceled by a bold and intense red curved grid killer and partial postmark. Extremely eye catching.

SOLD

4138 #114, fine, sound, bearing a bold XF strike of a negative cross killer, unlisted in Skinner-Eno. $30
4147 #114, fine, fresh and sound, bearing a VF strike of a small PAID hand stamp used as a killer. $15
3831 #114, F-VF+, sound, bearing a VF-XF SOTN strike of negative triangular circular geometric fancy killer, possibly Skinner-Eno GE-T15. Nice. $30
3554 #114, F-VF+, cancelled by an XF SOTN strike of a multi-segment circular geometric killer composed of interior and exterior wedge segments. Attractive.  (Click image for enlargement.) $25 n3554.jpg (6042 bytes)
1785 #114, fine, sound, bearing an XF strike of small outline Maltese cross killer. Neat. $25
1029 #114, fine, SE and three wide margins, bearing a fine strike of fancy Roman numeral X (10) cancellation of Saccarappa, ME (Skinner-Eno NS-J 21). $8
4656 #115, VF-XF, fresh color and paper, canceled by pretty red cork killer. Lower right corner perf has tiny repair. A very attractive stamp.  (HCS) $250
5535 #116, F+, fresh, sound stamp, vivid yellow color with crisp perfs all around, canceled by an XF strike of a brilliant red, almost magenta, fancy leaf killer. A beautiful stamp with great color cancellation and terrific eye appeal. $225
5141 #116, F-VF, small faults, bearing an XF strike of curved cross in thick, segmented circle. This fancy killer is listed as Skinner-Eno GE-C 134, but this is a much better example showing that the interior X is solid, not 4 segment. $125
1473 #116, avg, perf faults, bearing an XF strike of a scarce 7-ring target killer, and rarely found on this value stamp. $25
4621 #117, XF, bearing an XF SOTN strike of fancy spiral killer of CAZENOVIA, NY (Skinner-Eno SD-S 4). All fancy cancels on high value 1869 issues are very scarce. Stamp has a thin.

SOLD

4007 #117, fine, small faults, canceled by a superb SOTN strike of NYFM rosette fancy killer, Weiss TR-W8, partial red LONDON, England receiving mark. A wonderful example of this cancel. All NYFM are very scarce on 1869 issues.
