2928 #UX7, VF, Washington, DC 1885 duplexed numeral 3 ellipse cancels to Poughkeepsie, NY. Card has preprinted address to Frank D. Merritt, and on reverse has four different immaculately struck DC markings of same date: WASH. D.C. TRANSIT; MISSENT TO WASH. D.C.; WASH. D.C. FORWARDED; and double oval WASHINGTON D.C. numeral 3.  Clearly, this card with these purposeful variety of postal markings was posted with a specific intent.  I have, however, been unable to ascertain the relationship to the addressee.  A great opportunity for the collector wishing to research this item.
