1888 #O75, XF, tied by square cork killer with matching Washington, D.C. postmark large cover from the Office of the Auditor of the Treasury For the Post Office Department. Quarter inch reduction at right and tiny edge faults do not detract from this otherwise VF, scarce cover. $100 n1888.jpg (29542 bytes)

3713 #O75, fine 6 cent Treasury, double transfer exhibiting a distinct doubling along the left top edge of the stamp and above the letter U of U.S. Scarce and unusual plate variety (see large detail scan). SOLD

3308 #O76, XF 7 cent Treasury, plus fine pair #O72, 1 cent Treasury, triple the 3¢ domestic rate, on fine legal size envelope, very minor reduction from opening at right. Rare franking combo, one of 2 recorded. SOLD n3308.jpg (147562 bytes)

2341 #O78, 12 cent Treasury, XF-S jumbo, sound stamp. Scarce item in this condition, a premium copy. $25
3761 #O80, 24 cent Treasury, VF-XF, sound, immaculate perforations with face-free cancellation. A gem stamp, rarely found this nice.  2008 PFC, graded VF 80, which I believe misstates the centering of this stamp.  The 24 cent Treasury is notorious for poor margins and centering because of the large size of its die relative to other official stamps.  (See: Campbell, Alan, "The Quest for Perfection: Observations on Grading and on Perforating the Official Stamps," The Chronicle of the U.S. Classic Postal Issues, November 2007.)

SOLD

2911 #O80, fine, SE, bearing a light but definitely readable strike of the very rare NYFM GE-EP 13 geometric killer. This cancel is normally found on inbound foreign mail. To find this fancy killer on an official is incredible.  UNIQUE.  (Click stamp image for enlarged scan.)

SOLD

4536 #O81, F-VF 30 cent Treasury, single nibbed perf at right, clearly displaying a short transfer atop the upper right corner edge (plate position 45, see detail scan). Scarce and desirable plate variety. SOLD

4787 #O83, fine, sound, bearing a JUN 13, 187? blue double oval RECEIVED ticket ribbon cancel of unknown origin. A very unusual killer and use of the War stamp. SOLD

4273 #O 84, XF, sound, canceled by Washington, DC triple ring target killer with internal letter L representing local mail. Attractive stamp. SOLD
397 #O84, 2 cent War, VF with an XF purple strike of "CAMP HARNEY, GRANT" (County, Oregon Territory) APR 20 1879 double ring CDS. This was apparently before this became part of Harney County.  Scarce and desirable (Helbock scarcity index 7). Stamp has tiny corner crease and internal fault which do not detract from this great cancellation.
