4194 #270, VF, tied by Stamford, CONN. 1896 postmark and numeral 1 ellipse on XF illustrated advertising cover to Germany, picturing an early typewriter, the Blickensderfer No. 5. Nice office equipment cover. SOLD
4063 #178 and #158, fine copies, tied by VF violet quartered cork killers and matching Washington, DC 1878 postmark on fine cover to Cairo, Egypt, Brindisi and Cairo back stamps. Cover has some back faults, small reinforcement (back image).  Scarce destination for this period. SOLD

2951 #210, VF, on U163 unreduced entire, 1886 New Bedford, CT to Great Britain. Addressee could not be found. Cover opened in error and officially resealed by the British postal service (Drummond OS1, a seal used to repair letters damaged in the mails and to reclose letters opened in error, as here attested by post office docketing on reverse).  Cover, returned to sender, bears a variety of markings, including, Washington, DC Dead Letter Office triangle on reverse and purple pointing hand.  Scarce and desirable usage.

1900 #281, VF, 1901 NYC ellipse killer ties with Mexican 5 centavo stamp postmarked Guadalahara. Cover originated in Mexico, mailed to New York where U.S. postage was added and cover sent to Thomas Cook & Sons forwarding agent, Venice, Italy, then forwarded to Taomina, Sicily.  Appropriate back stamps, half inch cover tear at top.  A VF mixed franking usage. $150 n1900.jpg (38557 bytes)
