as Whitfield 6088 and its origin remains unknown. |

with scarce SAN FRANCISCO STEAMSHIP, OCT 28 postmark, mailed
to George G. Kimball, Office of the Savannah Daily Advertiser,
Savannah, GA, an inbound steamship cover from unknown source. Cover
has neat repair to area to the upper left of the stamp, not
affecting postmark and slightly affecting killer. Cover is
otherwise fresh and unreduced, with left and right ends of back flap
torn away. |

MITTINEAGUE, MASS. negative outline numeral 7 in shield surrounded
by 13 rays on cover with MAR 20 postmark. Cover opened roughly
at right damaging UR stamp corner, stain at left. Despite
these faults, this is likely the finest on-cover example of this
wonderful Mittineague fancy cancel extant with wonderful eye-appeal. |
