1861-67 Issues, Stamps (#2)

Item # Description Price Picture
5525 #65, VF, canceled by an XF strike of 4-point star and cross in circle fancy killer with partial New York City postmark, listed as Whitfield 2416, unlisted in Skinner-Eno. $45
5438 #65, fair-fine, perf faults, bearing a VF+ SOTN strike of a rare New York City shaded compass point star/geometric killer (Skinner-Eno GE-P 52), only the second that I have ever encountered. $45
5347 #65, two fine copies on piece, tied by two F+ strikes of POST OFFICE BOSTON, WM. L. BURT, P.M. double ring FEB 13, 1868 ticket ribbon postmark. This postmark is unlisted in Blake and Davis.  (William Lathrop Burt served as Boston postmaster from 4/13/1867 until succeeded by Edward S. Tobey 12/13/1875.) A wonderful and rare item for the Boston specialist. $85
5326 #65, fine, perf faults at upper right, canceled by a VF-XF strike of fancy negative shield killer of CORTLAND VILLAGE, NY (Skinner-Eno PS-FC 18). $30
5268 #65, fine, canceled by a VF strike of fancy patriotic negative shield killer of Leavenworth, Kansas (Skinner-Eno PS-FC 42). $30
5265 #65, fine, corner crease at upper left, bearing a VF-XF SOTN strike of small letter T within fancy crossroads composed of 4 segments, each with arrowhead pointing inward. This killer appears to be Skinner-Eno CR-X 12, a killer of unattributed origin, that in its tracing does not show the T at the center but, instead, shows a solid block.  Neat and interesting fancy cancel.
