#65, VF, canceled by a VF+ SOTN strike of unlisted
fancy patent killer on VF intact cover postmarked THREE MILE BAY, NY
(Jefferson County, 1830-). The vertical bars of this killer
clearly show 3 puncture pins in the cancellation, especially
when viewed in oblique lighting from below. The impression
of the pins can be seen on the inside of the envelope.
Interestingly, the circle and central dot of the killer show no
evidence of puncture. The stamp is "tied" by some mild foxing
at right. An absolutely wonderful fancy patent killer from a
small town. |
