5520 #65, VF, canceled by a VF+ SOTN strike of unlisted fancy patent killer on VF intact cover postmarked THREE MILE BAY, NY (Jefferson County, 1830-). The vertical bars of this killer clearly show 3 puncture pins in the cancellation, especially when viewed in oblique lighting from below.  The impression of the pins can be seen on the inside of the envelope.  Interestingly, the circle and central dot of the killer show no evidence of puncture.  The stamp is "tied" by some mild foxing at right.  An absolutely wonderful fancy patent killer from a small town. 4666 #65, avg, SE, Civil War across-the-lines prisoner of war mail canceled POINT LOOKOUT, MD, NOV 19, 1864, with XF strike of Prisoner's Letter Examined censor (Harrison type IIa).  Cover was sent to Richmond, VA, where it was rated with hand stamp DUE 10 and forwarded collect.  A very nice and instructive example of the handling of prisoner mail. SOLD
