Item # Description Price Picture
4803 #11, three large margins, just in at left, sound, lightly canceled, plated position 6R6, clearly showing a double transfer of the center ornament of the right two rosettes. A very nice example of this position.

SOLD

4790 #11A, F-VF, sound, canceled by a fine strike of rare New York City JUL 13, 1853 year-dated postmark, known used only July 11-25, 1853, possibly in conjunction with the Crystal Palace Exhibition (unverified). Nice and quite scarce.

SOLD

4775 #11A, fine, fresh and sound, bearing an XF SOTN strike of Chicopee, MA entwined star fancy killer (Skinner-Eno ST-6P 23).

SOLD

4682 #26, F+, canceled by a VF partial strike of STEAM BOAT, scarce marking used Boston, New York City and Providence. $35
4684 #26, fine, left margin copy with full capture of plate inscription "[ENG]RAVERS, Phila New York, Boston", very scarce to show the inscription this well. Stamp with a few nibbed perfs at top, otherwise sound.

SOLD

4300 #11, fine, bearing an XF SOTN strike of fancy blue geometric killer, origin unknown, unlisted in major references. Fancy cancels like this are quite scarce on early issues. Pretty stamp.  (HCS) $65
4401 #11, VF, fresh color, creases, canceled by a superb SOTN strike of gothic block letter FREE. Unusual and scarce use of obsolete rate marking as a killer. Very eye catching killer.  (HCS)

SOLD

4402 #11A vertical pair, sound, top stamp 4 margins, bottom cut in at left, canceled by an XF strike of a very unusual 4-bar oval grid killer.  This cancel is  unlisted in major references and is just the second instance that I have encountered.  Possibly designed to kill two stamps at once, as were commonly used to pay the 6 cent transcontinental rate.  Interesting item.  (HCS)

SOLD

4407 #25, VF+, pressed corner crease at upper left, bearing two strikes of blue WAY in circle (Skinner-Eno PM-W 6).  Pretty stamp, scarce marking.  (HCS) $100
4409 #26, F+, fresh and sound, bearing a superb SOTN strike of deep magenta red numeral 5 (Skinner-Eno NE-E 22).  A terrific late use of an obsolete rate mark.  An absolutely stunning stamp!  (HCS) SOLD
4410 #26A, fine left margin SE copy, tiny faults, canceled by an XF strike of patriotic US killer in block negative letters. Unlisted in major references, a wonder fancy cancellation item.  (HCS) $125
4411 #26, fine, canceled by a VF+ strike of US (S backwards) in star surrounded by UNION.  This wonderful patriotic killer from Three Rivers, Michigan is listed as Skinner-Eno ST-C 17 and in Simpson's as 20 (page 155).  Stamp has corner crease and small fault at bottom right.  (HCS) SOLD
4412 #26, fine, left margin SE copy, bearing a VF-XF strike of large rectangular block negative PAID killer, unlisted in major references. Stamp has tiny corner fault at upper left and a thin.  (HCS) $65
4413 #26, fine, tiny thin, canceled by a VF+ SOTN strike of rare, highly detailed geometric killer of NEWARK VALLEY, NY (S-E GE-E 23), composed of multiple outline boxes within a target. A very unusual killer.  (HCS) $65
4414 #26, F-VF, fresh and sound, canceled by a VF+ SOTN strike of indigo blue numeral 5 obsolete rate mark killer (Skinner-Eno NS-E 19). Pretty.  (HCS) $30
4415 #26, fine, creases, canceled by a fine SOTN strike of Masonic square and compass killer of Harrisburg, PA (Skinner-Eno FR-M4c 10).  (HCS) $25
